Mike LaRocco Gets Recognition for Racing Record

Supercross Superstar Surprised with Gift from AMSOIL for 200th Race

St. Louis, MO ~ For reaching the milestone of 200 supercross finals, AMSOIL/ Chaparral/Honda/Factory Connection rider Mike LaRocco was recognized by long-time sponsors for the feat in grand style. As part of ceremonies prior to round 11 of the AMA/THQ Supercross at the Edward Jones Dome, LaRocco was presented with an unusual gift, a CAT 247B skid steer.

After an introduction to the appreciative 50,000 fans, LaRocco took center stage on the stadium floor. Not one for the limelight, LaRocco stood a bit bewildered by all the attention and accolades. With a large group of sponsors, friends and family looking on, the Caterpillar skid loader rolled into sight and stopped next to the stage. "AMSOIL, Honda and Factory Connection wanted to give Mike something useful, long lasting and 'up lifting' you might say. Because he owns a track the skid steer seemed like the perfect gift," said John Schuldt, AMSOIL Racing Manager.

On March 6 at Daytona, FL, LaRocco made the 200th 250cc class final of his career, a mark never before obtained in the sport and one that will unlikely be surpassed. On this night in St. Louis, LaRocco finished fourth despite a terribly painful rib injury. He's third overall in 2004 250 class points.

LaRocco, 33, is the only rider to win a supercross event in three different decades. He has stood on the podium 73 times and has nine wins. His first win came in Las Vegas in 1991. LaRocco has six podiums through 11 rounds of supercross this season. He's now at 201 mains… and still counting.
